His Majesty The King on 24 March 2026 visited Gelephu Mindfulness City to inspect the site identified for the construction of 108 Jangchub Chorten, a landmark project announced last month at the launch of the 5th Zhabtog voluntary programme. His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness The Gyalsey and GMC officials for the inaugural walk along the 11-kilometre stretch identified for the construction of the 108 Chortens, each of which will stand 15 metres tall. The project sets an extraordinary ambition: to complete all 108 structures within a single day. On February 21st, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Gelephu Chorten in Chuzergang, His Majesty announced the initiative to build the 108 Jangchub Chorten along the 11-kilometre site within GMC. “It is an ambitious undertaking that demands courage, unity, and deep commitment. We must do it to prove to ourselves that, as we face the challenges ahead, there is no limit to what we can achieve when we stand together,” His Majesty said. While in Gelephu during the current visit, His Majesty also granted an Audience to the third Pelsung cohort undergoing training.
